hey! i read your gif tutorial and it was honestly really helpful but i was just wondering if there was a way to write different texts on different layers. so like when you play the gif the captions change. does that make sense?

Yeah! Just create the different captions, they’ll be overlapping at first, but we’ll fix that

Then select the frames in which you want one of the captions. Then, click on the little eye in front of the other text-layers (the ones you don’t want visible), so you can’t see them anymore

Do this for every text layer (select the frames you want it to be visible on and then unselect the other text layers)

Lol okay I hope it’s understandable?

helloooo.
going to sound really stupid huur but i need help:|
you know when you make gifs? how do you do the colouring?
like i can make gifs but when it comes to saving them i just use the adaptive thing or perspective(i think it is) thing and i wanted to try new colourings(if thats what they are) but idek how:| maybe you could help meh?x

Hey theeere!

I don’t really understand what you mean with adaptive/perspective? The way I change the colour of my gifs is like this though:

First put over the ‘Vibrance’ layer, found when you click this

And I reduce the saturation. If you put it to zero, your gif is black/white (but I think you already know this, because some of your gifs are black and white XD)

Then, above that layer (make sure it’s above it) I select ‘photo filter’ in the same menu.

And then I just play around with those things.. I’m sorry is this isn’t what you meant though! XD

I used your way of making GIF's but when I upload them then dont move unless they are really short? :| do you know why this is? :( xx

Yeah they have to be under 500kb in size. Really fucking sucks cause it takes all the quality away XD

When you’re in the ‘save for web and devices’ thing, search for this:

(It’s under the image of your gif)

You need to get that to 500k. I usually do this by using less colours or making the gif smaller ;)

Hey :) your gif tutorial is very helpful (really), but i still can't get some things. for example when i'm trying to edit it it's just doesn't work. do you have to merge layers or create group for editing or idk something? i just never did gifs from screenshots, so i'm kinda stupid in it. thanks in advance :)

I’m gonna make a better one someday XD But I’ll try and explain it here.

When you have your layers like this:

You just need to click the button in the red thingy. I usually use ‘curves’, ‘brightness and contrast’, ‘vibrance’ and ‘photo filter’.

One thing though, when you for example want to use the ‘curves’ option, make sure it looks like this:

and not like this

If it looks like the last one it means your editing will only have effect on, in this case, layer fifteen. In the first one it’ll have effect on all of the layers. You can change that by using the button in the red circle ;)

Just play around with all the different editing options :D

How do you make your gifs?
I mean I know how to make them but how do you make the videos the right format to fit in to photoshop? lol if you don't use photoshop, then I totally failed. xD love your gifs by the way.

Well I don’t use the import-button. I open the video in VLC player and then I screencap every shot I want to gif (video -> snapshot, and then use the ‘e’-key to move forwards one screen and take a snapshot again etc.). This takes a lot of time haha I usually have do to this like 80 times or something.

Then I go to photoshop (I use cs4) -> ‘file’ -> ‘scripts’ -> ‘load files into stack’ -> select all of your snapshots and press ok.

Then use the menu in the animation window and click ‘make frames from layers’ and then ‘reverse frames’ (cause for some reason it always loads the frames in reverse) and there you have it! You just need to edit it and stuff.

If this is too much, you can always use ‘next video converter’ (it’s free) and convert your file into Mpeg1. This usually messes with the proportions so I only use this when I’m feeling lazy.

I hope this helped a bit? If you have more questions just ask ;)

And sorry for my crappy English btw.
